Students on the Flagship 3140 team have the opportunity to identify and ignite their unique talents through team activities and prepare for the future as they:
- Grow communication and leadership skills in a supportive team environment
- Develop life skills including teamwork, mentor-ship, multi-tasking, prioritization, time management, and responsibility
- Network with local business leaders and peers from other teams
- Learn from and work with mentors who bring professional experience in science, art, technology, business, engineering, and math
- Develop practical STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) skills by working on electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, as well as software programming, CAD (computer assisted design), and 3D printing
- Learn how to plan, design, and build a working robot with specific objectives within a six-week schedule
- Understand how to plan, design, and create community outreach events that focus on inspiring enthusiasm about STEAM and supports our local and global community
- Gain business skills by producing strategic plans for budgets, marketing and public relations, community outreach events, training and team sustainability
- Learn how to create web-based social media for the education and promotion of FIRST, STEAM, and Team 3140
